My edited book Transdisciplinary Design has just been published by the Passagen Verlag of Vienna in their XMedia series. The Passagen Verlag is one of the leading publishers in the German-language countries of philosophy books, especially by “postmodern” and “deconstructionist” and “neo-Marxist” radical thinkers, such as Derrida, Baudrillard, Lyotard, Foucault, Deleuze, Badiou, and Zizek.
This book is unusual in that it is about half in German and half in English. Another unusual combination is that about one-third of the essays are written by me, one-third are written by Industrial Design graduate students, and one-third are written by recognized academics and scholars.
My co-editors are Professor Marion Digel and Irmi Wachendorff.
Eicke Riggers did a tremendous job on the layout of the book, as well as authoring two great essays.
The full title of the book is
Alan N. Shapiro, Marion Digel, Irmi Wachendorff (Hg.), Transdiszipinäre Gestaltung: Essays der Folkwang Universität der Künste
An interview with me (in German) by Herbert Gnauer of Literadio about the book from the Leipzig book fair can be heard here:
